The love of gastronomy, the love of cooking, the love of wine, the love of work well done… and the one who unites Charlie and Melanie who are at the head of this warm establishment!
Charlie has been training in England since he was 16. He knows all the trades that one does in the kitchen. He travelled, worked in Australia, and rose through the ranks before becoming runner-up at the luxurious Hotel du Vin, 4o, in Brighton.
After training in France, especially at the Chateau des Vigiers, Mélanie decided to perfect her experience abroad.While practising his cooking skills, Melanie is in the dining room, so it is in England that they meet.There, they both work with the requirement of luxury hotels, business meals followed by wedding banquets, to two-night meals where discretion is recommended.
After 5 years, Charlie -britaninque in love with France – proposes to Mélanie to settle there permanently.
An adventure in Purple Perigord
It is with the Dutch team of the hotel-restaurant "Les Merles" that Charlie immediately finds a place of second in the kitchen. This adventure lasts three years before the desire to settle wins. The idea follows its path, and Melanie, who has a complementary mention in sommelier, also wants a "field" experience! It is only natural that she spends time working on the vineyards, at the harvest, at the Château Pech La Calevie, in the heart of the Monbazillac vineyard.
After working in several establishments on the Bergeracois, after the experience of the vines, Mélanie trained in management.
And it is with happiness that they open their restaurant, Vin'Quatre, in July 2016!
Inventive cuisine, an intimate atmosphere!
The restaurant Le Vin'Quatre is a pun: the department, the four colors of wines of the appellation, the number of seats in the restaurant!
Just like the cozy atmosphere it reveals, the Vin'Quatre is nestled in a small alley of the "old Bergerac". Charlie and Mélanie make every effort to make it a meeting place for lovers, family meals (the restaurant can be privatized for these kinds of events), business meals where you need to be away from the crowds.
A new menu is offered every two months, depending on the seasons and the Chef's desires! A meal with food and wine can be offered. Charlie's signature is to work the local products, seasonal, with a British touch. A mix of flavours and textures that you won't often encounter such as parsnips and chocolate, bacon and caramel, to name a few!
In short, you will understand, the restaurant Vin'Quatre is a must on the gastronomic journey in Périgord Pourpre!
